Book Release Party 5/17/13

The Fallen Angels Book Club has only two requirements: the members must love books and have a white-collar criminal record. Hollis Morgan fits the bill. Left holding the bag in an insurance fraud scheme concocted by her now ex-husband, she served her time and is trying to rebuild her life. All she wants is for the court to pardon her conviction so she can return to law school.

After one of her fellow members is murdered in a scenario straight out of a club selection, Hollis is once again the subject of police scrutiny. Refusing to get stuck with another bad rap, she sets out to investigate her fellow club members. Is one of them really blackmailing the others? As a second member dies in yet another book-inspired murder, Hollis realizes that time is running out. Everything rides on her finding the killer--not just her career aspirations. She must identify the killer before she herself becomes the next victim. Everyone is convinced she knows more than she lets on. But what is it, exactly, that is she supposed to know?

The Fallen Angels Book Club is the first book in an exciting new mystery series featuring amateur sleuth Hollis Morgan.

Quarantine Times: Third Weekend

Quarantine Times: Third Weekend These past three weeks I've been diggin' into my movin' groovin' music vault (aka cd's, cassette tapes and do have 1 8-track, LOL). In my late teens and twenties, I listened to lots of different music (I'm blessed that I was open to ALL music as it made me appreciate different genres). Since places, I love to go to such as libraries, events, and museums are closed and my friends quarantining I am finding myself playing music. Like I'm going back to my music. Back then, I used to listen to a cd or cassette tape from beginning to end and got to know the album real good. Here's one that I would play to death. #MikiHoward "Ain't Nobody Like You" is my favorite of all. I hope you enjoy it and dance to it. It's a piece of feel-good music. I will continue to share music with you all. Feel free to share your music favorites with me. :) It will keep us going. ~vanessa ross

Ten years in Dogpatch

It's the first weekend of August and I am feeling pretty blessed. This blog post is dedicated to my neighborhood Dogpatch Historic District. Some of you know I enjoy staying busy with not only with work, (plus invovled in other projects) but am active in my beloved Dogpatch Neighborhood of ten years. I've been a member of the Dogpatch Neighborhood Association since 2004 and in 2009 I was voted in as the Membership Coordinator/Corresponding Secretary. I'm currently still on board as I was voted in again early this year. Thank you neighbors. The growth of Dogpatch has flourished beautifully with the help of local newspapers, NY Times, Travel & Leisure Magazine and more plus social media.  More condos are currently being developed and more yet to hit the ground soon. The Muni T line on 3rd Street has definitely help bring people into the area. In addition, the Dogpatch Saloon is under new management and reopened last Monday. It is more inviting and enliven's the
