Return to Writing

I, prefer to write longhand versus typing.  I guess I'm old school.  Proud to be writing morning pages for the past 14 weeks.  Writing three pages each morning feels good by clearing my head so I can have a good day.  I plan to continue morning pages for the rest of my life.  I know that's a lot of longhand writing but boy does it feel great to accomplish something challenging first thing in the morning.  It motivates me.

That leads me to say, the reason why I'm back in blogging at this time after a two year hiatus is due to making a commitment to myself and that commitment is to get back to completing my first feature film script.  It's my commitment to "Me, Myself and I" (Tribe Called Quest hip-hop song).  By writing morning pages, blogging, and reading will help me get to that place.

I changed careers two years ago from being a Lead Film Advisor to now working in the airline industry.  I literally applied everywhere for a job but no luck in the areas I really wanted to be.  I worked hard to earn a BA degree and thought I could easily jump to the next job after working in Education for over 16 years.  I am happy working in the airline industry but my income isn't the same and I'm working twice as hard to just get by.  I picked up a side job working at Chase Center, the new home of the Golden State Warriors just so I can have extra money and set goals to save but it is difficult while living in this city I love so much.

By blogging, I think I can achieve my biggest fear of writing the script I've been wanting to write since, well, the 1990s.  That's a very long time but I think the story I want to write is so relevant now.

I want my writing to get better each time I write and I'm ready for the challenges of writing.  Since I mentioned I work twice as hard to make money, I usually come home tired, my brain and body just wants to shut down.  Coming home exhausted is very frustrating but I'm up for my own challenge to get my script started.

For those of you who read this far, thank you.  If you have any comments, thoughts, suggestions, ideas and/or say hi, please do write a comment.  I think the time is now for me to get to the things I do want to do and writing is one of them.

As some of you know I love our city and always do my best to read as many books about our city because I love learning and discovering new things about the city.  Currently reading "Silicon City San Francisco in the Long Shadow of the Valley" by Cary McClelland.  I borrowed the book from the San Francisco Public Library.  I will provide an updated review next week.

Until then...
